The 21st Century - the Age of Global Challenges and Responses

The big international project under the working title Globalization: Challenges and Responses  was launched in 1997 at the initiative of Mikhail Gorbachev.

The first part of this project was summarized in the book The Problems of Globalization. Materials of the International Research Project (Moscow, 2001).

The next stage of this project was publication of a  collective monograph The Facets of Globalization. Difficult Questions of Contemporary Development (Grani globalizatsii. Trudnye voprosy sovremennogo razvitiya) Moscow, Alpina Publisher, 2003). Written by Russian social and political scientists, this work gives a multi-dimensional analysis of globalization as a phenomenon. A special focus is made on Russia's self-determination in the globalizing world.
