On May 8, 2014, Mikhail Gorbachev met Jack F. Matlock, Jr., a former U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union. At the end of the meeting, which took place at the Gorbachev Foundation, the former Soviet President presented the ex-Ambassador with a copy of his new book, Alone with Myself, with the author's presentation inscription, “From Mikhail Gorbachev. Dear Jack, Dear Mr. Ambassador, We in Russia fondly remember you and your favorable attitudes to Russia”.
