Helsinki 10th March 2010
Dear Mr. Gorbatchev
I decided to send a photo, which I have taken on 9* September 1990 in Helsinki, in front of Embassy of Soviet Union.
It was two days after my 12'' birthday and I had got a new camera as present. I was walking in city with my godparents during Summit '90 - You and President of U.S. George H. W. Bush met in Helsinki. We were just at Tehtaankatu and were surprised because there were so many policemen and streets were blocked even we knew that You and President Bush were negotiating in President's Castie at that time.
Suddenly Your black car with red flag drove to embassy. I saw You were in car. We were waiting maybe fifteen minutes. Later I found out You were having a phone call there.
When You drove back to President's Castie You opened window, smiled and waved just at me. I had only four pictures left on film but I got four terrific photos about You.
This moment was unforgettable. It was very important for me, Uttie boy who published his own magazine, circulation 20 copies. Since then I've been reporter and nowadays I'm 31 years old and working as managing editor in Finnish magazine Apu, circulation 200.000 copies.
I want to share this memory with You.
I wish blessing for You, strength and happiness, and great success for Your important work.
Sincerely Yours,
Tuomas Marjamaki
