US ex-president George Bush Sr. is to pay a private visit to Moscow next week, Pavel Palazhchenko, an aide to ex-president of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev told RIA Novosti.
Mikhail Gorbachev proposed organizing two joint events on Monday, including a meeting with scholars and students of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). The events are organized by the Gorbachev fund, Palazhchenko said.
Being an old friend of Gorbachev's, Bush agreed to join him at this meeting, he said.
Palazhchenko did not give any details on the schedule of Bush's visit because the Gorbachev Fund was not the official inviting side.
The US embassy in Moscow told RIA Novosti that George Bush Sr. was to pay a private visit and did not plan any public events except a lecture at MGIMO.
