The XXI century will be a сentury either of total all-embracing crisis or of moral and spiritual healing that will reinvigorate humankind. It is my conviction that all of us - all reasonable political leaders, all spiritual and ideological movements, all  faiths - must help in this transition to a triumph of humanism and justice, in making the XXI century a century of a new human renaissance.

Seminar “Meeting the Challenges of Urban Diversity in an Age of Large Scale Migration"

The Seminar was held on September 19, 2011 as part of the joint programme Meeting the Challenges of Cultural Diversity in a Global World   between the International Foundation for Socio-Economic and Political Studies (The Gorbachev Foundation) and the Woodrow Wilson International Center For Scholars Kennan Institute.

The Seminar opened with a public lecture on Meeting the Challenges of Urban Diversity in an Age of Large Scale Migration by Blair A. Ruble, Director of the Kennan Institute and Comparative Urban Studies Project.

Speakers at the Seminar also included Anatoly Vishnevsky, Doctor of Economics and Director of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Institute of Demography and Vladimir Malakhov, Doctor of Political Science and Lead Researcher with the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Philosophy.

Contributors taking part in the subsequent debate included Svetlana Gannushkina, Grigory Shvedov, Valery Patsiorovsky, Natalia Kosmarskaya, and others.

The Civil Society Institutions and Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation also participated in the Seminar.
