The XXI century will be a сentury either of total all-embracing crisis or of moral and spiritual healing that will reinvigorate humankind. It is my conviction that all of us - all reasonable political leaders, all spiritual and ideological movements, all  faiths - must help in this transition to a triumph of humanism and justice, in making the XXI century a century of a new human renaissance.

Expert Round Table “Post-Election Situation and the Emergence of a New Political Spectrum.” April 12, 2012.













On 12 April 2012, the Gorbachev Foundation hosted a round table themed «Post-Election Situation and the Emergence of a New Political Spectrum”.

The Round Table discussed the following issues:
  1. Overview of the Duma and presidential election campaigns and prospects for the emergence of new political parties and public movements. 
  2. Analysis of public protests and the emergence of new leaders.
  3. The left in modern Russia. 
  4. Opportunities and prospects for launching a united social-democratic party.
Participants in the Round Table discussion included:
Mikhail Gorbachev, Gavriil Popov, Vera Alperovich, Iliya Budraitskis, Mikhail Vinogradov, Irina Virganskya, Roman Dobrokhotov, Andrey Zakharov, Aleksey Zoudin, Boris Kagarlitsky, Grigory Kertman, Pavel Kudyukin, Grigory Melkoniyants, Yelena Panfilova, Vladimir Petukhov, Oleg Rumyantsev, Boris Slavin, and Mikhail Sokolov.
