The XXI century will be a сentury either of total all-embracing crisis or of moral and spiritual healing that will reinvigorate humankind. It is my conviction that all of us - all reasonable political leaders, all spiritual and ideological movements, all  faiths - must help in this transition to a triumph of humanism and justice, in making the XXI century a century of a new human renaissance.

Education Reform: the Government and Society. A roundtable discussion in the Gorbachev Foundation


On December 15, 2010 the Gorbachev Foundation hosted a roundtable discussion Education Reform: the Government and Society. The discussion was held upon an initiative of Coordinating Council of the Civil Dialogue Forum. The meeting was dedicated to the current state of the national education and  recent efforts to make amendments into the federal law “On education.”

Speakers at the conference included Mikhail Gorbachev, co-chairman of the Civil Dialogue Forum, members of the Forum’s Coordinating Council A.Auzan, N.Boltyanskaya, O.Zdravomyslova, V.Milov and experts – Ye. Bryzgalina, deputy associate professor, Philosophy Department, Moscow State University; E.Bunimovich, MP, Moscow City Duma; S.Grigorov Chariman of the Education Commission, Solidarity Movement, Ye. Yenikolopov, head of Department for Psychic Health, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences; S.Kazarnovsky, headmaster of school No 686, vice president of Russia’s Education League; D.Konstantinovsky, head of the Center for Sociology of Education, Sociology Institute at the Russian Academy of Sciences; Ye. Kravtsova, director of Psychology Institute, Russian State Humanitarian Institute; V.Larin, director of the Institute for History, Archeology and Ethnography of the Far East people, the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladivostok; M.Shneider, headmaster of gymnasium No 45, Moscow.
