As part of the 12th International Symposium “Russia’s Paths” the Gorbachev Foundation organizes Section “Different Russias: From the Power Vertical to Federalism and Regional Agendas”On 23 March 2012, the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences hosted the 12th International Symposium “Russia’s Paths. New Languages to Describe Social Issues”. Activities of Section “Different Russias: From the Power Vertical to Federalism and Regional Agendas” were organised with support from the Gorbachev Foundation. The section heard presentations by coordinators and experts of research project “Towards a New Model of Russian Federalism: A View from the Regions”: Olga Zdravomyslova, Andrey Ryabov, Andrey Zakharov, Andrey Makarychev, Mikhail Rozhansky, andAndrey Starodutsev.
In their presentations, speakers at the section, representing several regions of Russia, discussed the problems of Russian federalism and regional studies.

The XXI century will be a сentury either of total all-embracing crisis or of moral and spiritual healing that will reinvigorate humankind. It is my conviction that all of us - all reasonable political leaders, all spiritual and ideological movements, all faiths - must help in this transition to a triumph of humanism and justice, in making the XXI century a century of a new human renaissance.
